A month ago when you search for Ammar you'd find my blog beyond the 20th result. Now it's 6 that's great progress.

Today was one of the worste days ever, I have been working for two days on compiling 2.6 Kernel, I checked every website for the error msgs. Nothing worked out, I called my friend zu3bi, as he's more experienced with this compilation thing, we spent another two hours, same result.

Then I asked Yaman for some help, he's a professional Linux admin working for Xpress. it's 2 am, we've been working on it for almost 4 hours, also nothing good came out .

Being a Pragmatic programmer suggests that you learn a new programming language every year or so. The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master suggests that too.

Well, I started learning a language called Scheme, and using the great software Dr Scheme. Not because I want only to learn a new langauge, but because this language is really different.

It uses prefix notation, if you want to write( 5 + 7 ), that would be (+ 5 7 ) Some people refer to that as polish notation. Pretty complex at the beginning.

It has some really nice and great features, highly academic in nature. What I might do, after I really understand these concepts thouroughly, take some of them and implement them on my favorite language, That is PHP of course.

A long journey, gonna take so much "free" time & dedication. And my "free" time is getting narrower everyday. Working on some projects, doing consultation for a huge portal, going to University and some other stuff.

NOISA Stands for (No ISA) . ISA(Internet Security & Accelaration Server) is Microsoft's firewall, VPN, Internet Connection Sharing, And web caching solution.

The project aims to write a replacement for ISA. The project was initiated by Yaman Al-Saqqa, over 15 Members of JoLUG joined the project.

Talking to Yaman, he said that we're almost %20 done now. The project might release the first unstable version in the next 6-9 Months.

I joined the project, As I will be writing a Web monitoring tool. The really interesting part is to write a Real-Time Monitor using PHP. I might push it to the extreme and write a Rich Internet App. Using "Macromedia Flash" As a front end. That should be really amazing .

Well, If you're a normalizer(Like me) who hates to denormalize his database design. You might end up writing really complex JOIN queries that consist of seomthing like 10 tables. There might be a performance hit. So what's a nice work around?

Here's the deal, you could split the query into two. e.g 5 tables in each query. Store the result of the queries in a temp table. 'Heap' would be perfect if you use MySQL, MsSQL uses the temp tables, just put # infron of the table name. Then write a query that joins those two temp tables. There might be times, when this produces results faster!
