PHP, MSSQL & Arabic

I'm working on a website for some client, they have got the data in a MSSQL database for their desktop application. Now, the website will be running on LAMP, so I wrote a very specific MSSQL-to-MySQL migration script that reads tables schemas from an XML file.

I was surprised to see the data in MySQL as rubbish! after some some serious testing, playng with charsets, using iconv, ..etc I think the problem is in PHP-MSSQL extension, not sure though.

Ugly Fix: I used ODBC connectivity, and everything worked just fine. I hope this saves you sometime if you encounter the same problem.

really thank you! although, i haven't met this until now, your advice may helpful in the future!

i haven't used MSSQL-to-MySQL tools, just use an excellent MySQL-to-MSSQL tool, you can check my homepage!

Hi,
I have a sql2000 db on the internet, when I try to take a backup in my local machine I face a problem.
my problem that the result table contains and readied Arabic chars like this one
��
I try to change the collation.
In source it was SQL_La
sql_latin1_General_CP1256_CS_AS

Also I try to make a backup and restore it in my local machine.

The internet server is not Arabic, while my local machine has wind2003 server Arabic support

Can any super hero help me solving this problem?
