Ammar, stuff like this happens to foreigners all the time. People don't assume we understand Arabic.
Not just from strangers. We finally pulled my son out of the Jordanian school he attended when his TEACHER started spouting junk like this - and the friends he had since kindergarten followed suit. Not just words. We've had tires slashed, windows broken, tomatoes and eggs thrown. Due to a strange series of atempted break-ins that aren't 'normal', we have detectives patrolling our neighborhood twice a night. It's not fun to be a foreigner in Jordan right now, and I'm not sure how much longer I'll last. |
